Packing for Air Travel

After 300K miles in the air with puppies, this I have down to a science. TSA being TSA can be a pain, however these are the things I would carry that would cover me for delays and cancellations..
1. Leash/Harness
2. A meal or 2 worth of Food (you can always get chicken)
3. Petco carries a 3.5oz size of Nutri-cal - this is a must have.
4. Wee Pads (stash them underneath the liner of your sherpa bag
5. A couple favorite bones and toys
6. Benedryl (a caplet will do just precut if a puppy) this can be given if you puppy reacts to anything or just wont settle down or gets a little airsick.

Believe it or not this is ALL you need to carry in cabin...

Happy Traveling!!!!!

Traveling with your Havanese - Part 1 - Loss Prevention Kit

Every pet should have a basic care and ID Kit in case of loss or the necessity of others caring for her. Make copies of important papers and care instructions, enclose them in a clear plastic bag, and tuck them into the zipper pocket of your travel bag or attach to the top of the crate if traveling by car.
Inside the bag include:
1. Copies of Pedigree, license, health certificate, medical and vaccination records, including most recent rabies.
2. Contact info for your pet's vet, and breeder
3. Your cell phone number and another emergency contact phone number
4. Photos of your pet labeled with his name
5. Care and Feeding instructions
6. Special instructions including medical issues, presciptions and allergies.

Many Apologies

Ok, so it has been a couple of years since I tried this blogging thing.... Many apologies.. I will try to do better... (I hope).

Is Your Havanese Shy??

Your dog might need a boost of confidence. These dogs need you to make them feel safe and secure.

Possible Activiites
1. Take him with you to lots of places... the mall, Home Depot, Lowes.
2. Let lots of people hold him (walk away for a few minutes then come back)
3. Take a class with your dog
4. Let him have lots of play dates
5. Try doggy dog care once a week
6. Many play dates - especially with happy, bold dogs can help a shy dog blossom.
